The First Trampoline Casualty

Check out Oaklee's ankle.
She hurt it while playing on the trampoline.
Poor Baby!!

(Nice little dirty feet, huh?)
I am in a Christmasy mood:)

Here are some pictures from the Barry Family picture day AKA Nina's Baptism.
John and Brenda with all of their grand kids, sans Trevee and Journee.
I had to put this cheesy picture of Greg with Ande and Bastian.
Doesn't his short hair look good!

My New Adventure

I have so much spare time lately!!

I decided to start an couple of new adventures to add to wife, mom, PTO President, Site Council Member, and Sunday School Teacher.

I started a cheer squad at the school. I am so excited! Two times a week, I get to teach girls how to cheer and tumble. I love that kind of thing!

I also started a new blog to sell some of my craft stuff, Scottee's Sassy Stuff. Check it out!

Summer Stories- By Oaklee

I found these funny stories Oaklee wrote over the summer.
For our summer homework, the kids each had to do 1 page of math and read 1 book and write a story. These are 2 of my favorites.

(I told her to remember her punctuation in that dog one. She went a lottle overboard with the periods.)

NICE!! All on her own:)

The Barry Family Halloween Party!

We have an annual Barry Family Halloween Party every year.
Jaxson was a very scary pirate, Oaklee was Frank, the Turtle, and Charlee was a scary witch.

GoGo was a red neck, beer bellied, trucker. Here she is with her perfect grand children.

Baby Mollie. So cute. We were finally healthy enough to meet:)

We had costume parade down the street.
The kids waved at Grandpa when he drove by.

We had a cake walk...

And painted faces...

We fished for prizes...

Ande had a good time playing in the kitchen.

We painted together...

This was Ande's costume... We said she could be Brenda's red neck grand-daughter/ cousin.

I did not get any pics, but we also threw Adams eyeball into a garbage can and got prizes:)

It was a fun time:)

Charlee and Scottee's Piano Recital

Charlee and I had our first piano recital. We each had to memorize 2 songs. Charlee's favorite song was "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". My favorite song was "My Country Tis of Thee".
My cute Mom bought us each a bunch of flowers with little silver notes in them.
Thanks Mom (Oh and she teared up because we were so awesome)
I am not ashamed to be the ONLY adult student. I have to learn sometime.:)
I could not get our videos to be big, but you can hear her play.

My first song was "When the Saints Go Marching In"

Thanks to my awesome teacher, Audra! She has done a great job and it was a fun little recital.

More Pictures of R and M's room for your viewing pleasure

Jaxson's Fortune

Jax and I were eating fortune cookies when the following conversation took place:

Jax: Mom, will you read my paper for me?
Mom: Yes, it says "Opportunity Knocks On Your Door Every Day- Answer It".
Jax: But not if you don't know who it is!

He is BRILLIANT!!

It is official... I have tuned into my MOM!!!

Oaklee wanted to be a turtle for Halloween.
Why can't this child be something I can buy at Party City???
I found Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but my little lady only wanted to be a turtle.
My mom used to make us anything we wanted to be. I am so glad that I am turning into my mom:)
I used felt for the front...
I used ribbon to attach a bowl that I painted like a turtle shell.

She wants to have green hair and a green face on Halloween.
My silly little Oaklee:)

(Jaxson is a "Parate" and Charlee is this spider witch)

When we were in the doctor's office on Saturday, Oaklee said,"Mom, this room is beautiful. I think it was painted by Bob Ross" :)

Conversing with Oaklee

Mom: Oaklee, you know what I really want you, Jaxson, and Charlee to give me for my birthday?
Oaklee: What?
Mom: My present could be you guys cleaning up down stairs.
Oaklee: Mom, that is not a present, that is a verb.
False Alarm... It is not hives. Charlee is covered in dots, too:) Yeah. We are taking the kids, my mom, and Brian's mom and dad to Ah So for steak. Oh well, they are going anyways:)

Happy Birthday To Scottee!! Yeah!!

Oaklee's present to me... HIVES!!

I thought I was done!!!

Charlee is home sick with a tummy ache and a fever, but I feel so blessed today! I have so much fun stuff going on. I feel like I am so busy, but it is fun stuff that I enjoy doing. I get to be the PTO President at my kid's school which means I get to know everyone at the school and make sure my sweet girls have fun events to go to. Charlee tells everyone that I am the PTO President. She is so proud of me which makes my heart swell with love. I was able to paint this awesome room for my friend. I love to paint. I would love to do it every day. It makes me wish we were not renting so I could paint my home now. In conference this past week, the prophets said not to over schedule yourself. I thought, "What should I give up?" Giving up things that I love is not what they meant, I am sure, but I need to keep it in mind. Then I realized that I can have it all and relish in the down time that I get to enjoy with my husband and kids. I love staying home and helping them with their homework. I thought I was done with the sickies, but I am so thankful that I can be home helping my sweet girl to feel better.

In My Spare Time...

This is what I have been up to this week!
My friend is letting me trade piano lessons for painting her daughter's room!
I am totally getting the better end of the deal.
I love to paint! It makes me relaxed and happy.

Her daughter wanted green, orange, and brown for her colors.
At first, I was a little unsure of the colors, but my friend already had the 2 foot orange strip painted all the way around the room, so all I had to do was make the design inspired by her fabric.
(I painted the scrolly things in brown)
She found a green fabric with these scrolly things on it, so I created a template of said scrolly things and put them into the 2 foot orange space.
I put the girl's initials into the scrolly things by their beds.
All in all, I think it turned out great!
It took a lot of time, but it looks great.
I will post more pictures when the room is complete with bedding and all:)
Notice the green scrolls in the brown... totally not planned, but inspired to perfection:)

Coming Up For Air!

What a crazy month!

It all started with Brian!! hehe Not really, but Brian got Bronchitis. He coughed horribly and had to get on antibiotics, steroids and a new inhaler. Right after that, I got a sinus infection and got what we can only assume was a bug bite on my boob. Yeah, at the emergency room, my sister in law, Nancy, teased me that I showed my boob to the Janitor because I saw 2 doctors (I hope it was not the Janitor!) They put me on 2 antibiotics- 1 sulfa and 1 other one to treat me for Mersa, just in case.

Two days later, Oaklee celebrated her sixth birthday. Not good timing for a swim party since neither Brian or I could be in the sun because of our antibiotics, but what can you do? She had so much fun. She invited her whole class to her party.
Happy Birthday, Baby!

The next week, Jaxson got his tonsils out. So Sad! I hate when they get this done, but Barrys and Pages both have ginormous tonsils and adenoids, so sleep apnea is bound to happen. Better to do it now and get it over with. Jaxson was given liquid codeine for the pain and Amoxacillin.
The morning of the surgery. He HATED his gown. It was for girls!

I gave him his codeine and accidentally licked my finger (like all moms do). Did I mention I am allergic to codeine? Oh yeah! and now we found out that I am also allergic to Sulfa drugs as well. The lick of codeine swelled my tongue and brought out the reaction to the sulfa drugs that were in my system. I went to Walmart to buy some cream. When I asked the pharmacist which one I should get, he took a step back (like hives can fly!) and told me to go directly to the hospital for steroids. I had to go back into the emergency room covered in hives. I got steroids and after a couple of days I felt better. Then I got thrush in my mouth from all of the antibiotics and steroids. I went to the doctor and she gave me Nystatin. I have a whole new respect for babies when we put that nasty stuff in their mouths. GROSS!
This is a picture of my arm on the way to the hospital. My WHOLE BODY looked like this! OUCH!

There is more!!!

Jaxson came and told me he was itchy... sure enough, Jaxson was covered in hives, too. He is allergic to Amoxacillin!

(He won't let me put the picture on here because it shows his underwear!)

Two days later, Oaklee woke up with a temp of 103.3! GRRRR Took her to the doctor and sure enough, after paying the copay, she felt just fine!

PHHEW!! $600, 3 weeks later, I am finally coming up for air. I am so thankful that my family is finally healthy. Now winter is coming :( On to some fun stuff!

Our Little Sand Paper Girl:(

She may not look like it, but Oaklee is sick:(
I took her to the doctor on Tuesday with a sore throat and a fever. I thought she had strep, but the culture came back negative.
I took her today for her well check and the doctor said that the rash she developed Tuesday night was
Scarlet Fever!!
Yeah, I didn't know what it was, I just knew it was not good.
Turns out it is basically strep throat with a rash. If you don't treat it quickly, it can go to the heart and kill you!! Yeah, I am so thankful that we live in an age where we have antibiotics and good doctors to help my cutie patootie.
If you look close, you can see the rash all over her torso. It feels like sandpaper and she itches it like crazy. She should be non-infectious by Saturday morning.
Oh, and she was 41 inches tall and weighed 41 pounds:)
She was in the 38% for weight and the 2.5% for height.
She is short and sassy.
We love our little disease carrying girl.

My cousin took this fabulous pic of her on the beach and I wanted to share it:)

"Don't Have a Cow, Man" -Bart Simpson

My girls were in the bath today for over 2 hours... what can I say, it is hot and the bath is like a very small pool in air conditioning. I noticed Brian's shampoo bottle empty on the floor and the following conversation took place... enjoy:) Oh, and for about a year, my kids have lovingly called Brian Dido instead of Dad... Don't ask, I don't get it either.

Mom: If you guys used all of Dad's shampoo again, he is going to have a cow.
Charlee: What is a cow?
Oaklee: You know Charlee, a cow... Mooooo.
C: How can Dido have a cow. Only girls can have babies.
O: Cows aren't babies, Charlee.
M: Dad is not really going to have a cow.
C: How does he have a cow then?
M: Never mind!!
Jaxson: (leaving the room in a tiny voice) Mom, is Dido really going to have a cow?

This conversation made me think that I am old... another generation... all in all, pretty lame:)

"That Counter"

Am I the only one?
I often wonder this when I see "That Counter" in my house.
You know the one... The one that everything "I think I need to keep, but will never find, but what if I need a place to stick this" ends up!
I think I have had a drawer/ cupboard/ counter top of these kinds of things in each of the houses that I have lived in.
Why do I do this?
Why do builders "build in" these nooks and crannies for my crap?
This is a new house! A new start!
I will not have "that counter" in this house... at least I can try:)

The Beach 2010

This is the ONLY picture we got ON the beach this year.
It rained a few days and was in the low 60's most of the time... AWESOME for an Arizonian coming from 112 degrees... BAD for going to the beach. I loved it! My dad had the kids and their cousins shuck corn. It still amazes me how many phrases my brothers can come up with from the word "shuck".

Here we are preparing tin foil dinners... in our sweatshirts:)

Heaven forbid the kids don't watch a movie for a whole week. Kids came in off the street to get a fix... just kidding, these are some of my cousin's kids:)
This is how we celebrated the 4th of July...

We were going to go see fireworks until Jax threw up everywhere.
This is how HE spent the 4th of July:(

Grandpa took all of the kids to the store. He was very excited about his leash idea.
He also thought it would be fun to ride the coaster train. It would have been AWESOME for the kids if Brian had gotten the times right. We had to wait more than an hour on the platform for a $5, 5 minute ride to the next stop. They thought it was great, so I guess that is all that matters.

Fun vacation.
Let's go back... "I am melting" as Oaklee would say.

Ode to Swimmee

Brian and I held a sad funeral tonight... in the bathroom.
Swimmee, one of the kid's frogs, had to be flushed today:(
Swimmee has been sick since we went on vacation and tonight he decided he was ready to go. I asked Brian if he wanted to say a few words. He said that Swimmee was a good frog and we could buy a new one tomorrow. (So easily forgotten, you insensitive frog owner).I guess 10 months is a good life for a water frog.
Swimmee's friend, Swimmer looks so lonely in the tank. Now his only friend is Turkey, the snail.

What am I Up To?

I am hanging out in my campsite at the beach in San Diego.

I am wearing a sweatshirt and jeans.

It is 64 degrees!

I am going to see Eclipse at 10 p.m. with my cousins... for the second time today:)

I thought the movie was great!!!! Well worth the $6.

We took the kids to see Toy Story in 3D yesterday... still determining if it was worth the $65.00 it took our family to see it. The movie was great, but sure costly:)

I am going to go listen to the waves now. Jealous??

Tuesday, June 29, 2010

It is so hot, I am boiling.
Why do we live here???
112 is too hot... even for Arizona in the summer:)
San Diego, Here We Come!!

Ode to the king of closets... or queen:)

I had such a great day today.
I have decided that I love the closet in my new house.
I loved the pantry in my old house, but this closet makes me really want to shop!
It is 24x 8 sf (Scottee feet)!
If you look to the back of the really messy closet (We moved a week ago, give me a break) you will notice the pack-n-play that my niece, Ande slept in. It is like a little attached nursery:)

I also thought I would include the pic of our little TV moving to the new house. The silly boys buckled it into my car. At least they did not name it:)
